Memorial Day 2012

Hey look, I’m alive and posting.

Last year we made a last minute trip down to Siesta Key for Memorial Day and this year we decided to make it a tradition, only it wasn’t last minute we planned for months. My friend Tiffany’s 25th birthday was the Thursday before Memorial Day, back in February her boyfriend contact a few of us to see if we were interested in doing a surprise birthday/Memorial Day shindig and after all the fun we had last year of course we were in. We started looking for houses to rent within walking distance of the beach and the village and we found a cute 3 bedroom with a pool on a canal. There ended up being 3 couples and Tiffany’s brother for the weekend.

Matthew and Tiffany were the first down there and she had no idea any of us were coming. Friday afternoon we made trip down and were the first surprise guests to arrive. Tiffany’s face was priceless. For a few seconds she just started at my trying to figure out who I was, but once she processed it all she was so excited. The rest of the people started trickling in. We had a BBQ at the house, drank plenty of margaritas and beer, and headed out to the village.

Saturday we made our way over to the beach and it was quite a hike with all of our stuff. We had beautiful weather all day and the gulf was so calm. Perfect for floating around in the water enjoying a few more beverages.

We ended Saturday with swimming, a crawfish boil, and plenty of booze back at the house. We had 60 POUNDS! of crawfish flown in from Louisiana, needless to say we did not go hungry.

Sunday I was not feeling so great, maybe it was the margaritas or the lack of sleep, but I am definitely not in college anymore. The boys went out to play golf and we rode bikes around the village. We may have stopped for a wine tasting…

      

And ended the night out for dinner where one of the guys was trying to kill a roach and smashed another guys foot with the stool, then he passed out, the fire truck and ambulance showed up and tried to take him to the hospital. Just a typical Sunday night in Siesta Key!

Monday we spent some time at the beach before heading back home. Gosh it was tough to go into “work” after spending all that time lying around in the sun.
